heralding from brighton, married (production) couple sam and tracy presented classic with some music classic was very familiar with. not only is sam a member of the legendary gramme, but has also featured on a number of past luke solomon originals for classic…so are already part of the extended family. classic immediately warmed to the music and the music already felt at home. looking for the right remixer begun - classic played the tracks to long-time member of crazy p - a certain mr basejam and immediately leapt to them and remixed not one – but both of the records on the ep as he loved them both so much. the result is a meeting of minds sounds and words.

the white noise backdrop of modern life means that without some fine-tuning on our part, even established and progressive artists can become elusive on occasion. but since musical creativity involves a healthy drive to self-determination, and often a keen collaborative spirit, out of earshot doesn’t necessarily mean out of action.
certainly not in the case of junior boys, who’ve readied a new album, big black coat, via city slang. a strikingly energised and intuitively dynamic set that reconnects them to their techno roots without sacrificing their soulful pop nous or riding a revivalist wave, it’s also shaped by what jeremy greenspan and matt didemus have been doing in the five years since their last release.

whilst its neighbour has always taken the plaudits on the party front the steely city of sheffield has its own house history, with much of it residing in the warm buzzing darkness of the studio. its here that we find our latest robsoul rookie. a fresh name for the label, but a producer who is far from new to the game. tommy vicari jnr’s first release was pressed to the black gold and released back in 2004. since then there have been sporadic outings, but the last two years have seen a reinvigorated tommy roll out over ten new releases and play a huge part in putting sheffield s house music firmly back on the map. threshold of eternity sees tommy drop the northern grit to replace it with shimmering warmth and sunshine vibes across all four tracks. fidgeting rhythms, chopped samples and groove-heavy beats and bass are spliced together to create an essential feel-good release.

this is the second record of the modern house quintet, a french band who makes house music. like the former release, this new one features two house/deep house tracks: * marmande* starts with a lush pad and staccato bassline soon joined by percussions and an organ chord. the second part of the track introduces gradually a flute line plus a powerful open hi-hat. * bellevue* opens with a pad and a filtered rhodes synth supported by a low-fi bassline. that structure evolves step by step until the break introduces strong open hit-hats followed by another flute line.

the second release from spazio records is a transatlantic affair. made by the dynamic duo zopelar from sao paulo in brazil and sumorai from the southern part of sweden. the tracks are the fruits from jams made behind hotel walls in tokyo. deep, raw and sticky-icky.

its always been tricky predicting what firecracker recordings will release next, though few would have expected an ep of freestyle, darkside drum machine jazz and percussive drone from berceuse heroique, nous and bedouin regular healing force project. sounding like early 23 skidoo replayed on drum machines and samplers, theres much to admire about the hectic rhythms, foreboding textures and dusty samples at the heart of gravitational lensing. its unclassifiable and completely out there, paranoid, dense and intense, with the fizzing drums, mangled horns and metallic percussion hits of random walks just edging out the experimental jungle-jazz madness of apophenia in the top tracks stakes.

from field recording to analog machines, sound design and acoustic instruments. - reflecting on the sounds of our lives and their perception by our mind, - four - ghosts - were born. - the spontaneous realisation of an emotional connexion with a sound (the birth) and the feeling it can create in our mind, body and soul. (the story) first, the ghost is born, acknowledged and captured: rain falling, airplane passing by, metal grinding, underwater impacts, birds in empty spaces or other sources of raw sounds combined to form a spectrum of emotions, a personality. then, the ghost is understood, carefully tamed, manipulated and controlled to become part of the host s identity by the pure continuity of the cerebral activity through the nervous system and the being itself. eventually the consciousness / awareness of the moment is integrated and the ghost becomes the experience. back in soviet times when the official local music market was controlled by the biggest record monopoly in history melodiya, many local musicians who wanted to express themselves in actual form, released tapes themselves and spread it through a big underground market network called magnitizdat (short of magnetic tape release). it began in the 60s with soviet rock movement and illegal copies of foreign music which got through border with tourists, seamen and diplomats. in the late 80s you could find there many different shades of music from underground protest rock, post punk, avant-garde to a lot of electronic pop, local kind of italo disco and dj s mixtapes with a personal rap on top of it. plus seven records begins a sublable series of remastered edits which narrate about dance part of this story.

charlton is one of the first persons who joined the th society. he is a part of us and we are a part of him. out of control is the only appropriate phrase to describe this rotterdamer. his ep on th comes with three manic and noisy tracks and an autistic remix from label owner hana.

immersed in the early days of the 90s midwest rave scene, bill converse began djing at a young age in lansing, michigan. luminaries such as claude young, traxx, and twonz were key early influences. since moving to texas in 1998, he has experimented with analog techniques in varied studio bunkers. early techno, noise, ambient, tape, and paranormal processing are all part of his uncanny sound palette.

the second part in his modernista initiation and this release sees tom mcconnell confirm his production versatility, merging diverse influences and sounds into a singular identity. 77 is rhodes-led house meets jazz, driven by drum box disco beats interspersed with surreal strings. hurled towards jupiter is a suitably atmospheric (cosmic?) track with swirling arpeggiated keys underpinned by a heavy bass line and off centre tribal percussion. peacefoot follows its own path, morphing from a submerged disco loop into a slow polyrhythmic acidic burn and back again.

after a slew of solo releases and a few comps, marshall applewhite has teamed up with fellow detroit native kero to put together a 4 track collaborative effort that explores both the new sludge phenomenon and the more classic detroit techno/electro sound. within 4 songs the two have covered a wide base of musical information. comprised of 2 parts modular gear, 2 parts homemade reaktor patchwork, and 1 part raw machine funk, sewer tracks gives a good representation of each players musical aptitude.

cromby is an exciting addition to the london house music scene: originally hailing from belfast he has made camp in the british capital and brought his mpc 2000 xl with him. the young man who has grown up listening to chez damier and moodymann makes use of the japanese sampler from akai in a highly fresh and creative way combining raw drums with sweet and melancholic pads and chords. on his * planets and parks ep* cromby displays a very nice balance between a traditional deep house understanding and a forward thinking attitude and is thus just perfect for tenderparks’s idea of musicality. as far as the artwork of the record is concerned the beautiful black and white image is the last part of tenderparks current series concieved by art director till sperrle and photographer magdalena bichler. and as you ve come to expect from tenderpark all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering once more.
